Former Scout rescues boat owner after falling from his boat
Former 5th Mansfield Scout Richard Ramsdale hit the local headlines at the start of February after he rescued a boat owner that slipped on his boat and fell into the River Trent.
Richard who has been a keen kayaker since his time at 5th Mansfield and is now a club coach was warming up for a training session by Colwick Marina on the River Trent.
The 74-year old boat owner had slipped on his boat while attempting to carry out some repairs. He was clinging on to a rope at the back of his boat when Richard discoverd him after hearing a bit of a commotion. Richard managed to pull him on to the jetty and get him out of the water. He then helped him to get back into his boat and warm up while they waited for an ambulance to arrive.
Well done Richard! We're really proud of you!
