Scouts help marshal triathlon festival
A team of Scouts & Explorers took up some marshalling duties at the national Rother Valley Triathlon Festival on the 11th & 12th June. The group have been helping out marshalling at the event for a number of years and this year went to help out again. Around 20 Scouts, Explorers and Leaders went up for the weekend carrying out various duties from pulling swimmers out of the lake, to pointing athletes in the right direction and cheering them on.
The Rother Valley Triathlon Festival is an annual event organised by One Step Beyond Promotions which this year attracted almost 600 competitors. The event constists of a number of races where the athletes have to complete a swim, followed by a bike, then finally a run.
Adam Moffat, a member of the organising team said "I had a great time and I thought it was our best event of the year so far – thanks very for your help I thought the Scouts were great!" and Fiona, a participant said "It was brilliant thank you sooo much to all of the volunteers I really appreciate your hard work and support. The race wouldn't happen without you! Thank you."
