Team help out at local duathlon competition
Early on the morning of Sunday 6th November after bonfire night, a team of Scouts, Explorers, Parents and Leaders set off to Sherwood Pines to help out at the Robin Hood Duathlon. After donning their hi-viz jackets, some of the team spread out around the course of the running & cycling event to help direct the athletes and keep the course clear. Others manned the water stations and handed out much needed drinks to the runners. All the volunteers did a superb job and even co-ordinated a medical emergency quickly and efficiently.
The event was one of many organised by One Step Beyond that 5th Mansfield have assisted with marshalling including the Rother Valley, Mansfield and Southwell triathlons.
Adam and Tasha who are organisers of the events pass on their thanks to the team.
The work of the young people that attend is recognised through gaining badges and working towards the Chief Scouts Gold/Platinum awards.
Well done to the team for their brilliant efforts. They were a credit to 5th Mansfield and Scouting.
